Wash & Care Instructions

Diapers must be washed prior to use. Fold tabs closed, remove any inserts, and store diapers in a dry pail. For soiled diapers, remove solids and rinse prior to storing. Wet diapers do not require rinsing. Wash separately from other clothing every 1-3 days.
  1. Cold rinse or soak cycle. No detergent.
  2. Warm wash - ½ to ¼ of the recommended detergent amount.
  3. Cold or warm rinse.
  4. Tumble dry low or hang to dry.

Do NOT use chlorine bleach. It weakens fabrics and will void the warranty.

Do NOT use fabric softener or pure soap. They leave a water-repelling residue on the diaper that affects the absorbency.

Do NOT dry on high heat or for prolonged periods of time. This can damage the fabrics and greatly speeds up wear.

Do NOT use the sanitize cycle (HE Machines) with Kushies diapers. The extreme high water temperature can damage the fabrics and will void the warranty. Diaper liners may be sanitized however repeated exposure to high heat may cause premature wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What detergent should I use? Use a quality detergent free of bleach and fabric softener. Use approximately ¼ - ½ of the recommended amount. Too much detergent can cause build-up and too little will not clean the diapers properly. If the diapers do not smell clean or smell strongly like ammonia, increase or decrease the amount of detergent you use as required. If baby develops a rash, adjust the amount of detergent and/or switch to another brand if needed. You may need to experiment with several brands to determine which works best for you.

How can I prevent leaks? Change baby frequently, ideally once wet and/or soiled whenever possible. If leaking occurs at the legs or waist, and the diaper is not saturated, adjust the fit as required and fasten snugly to secure. Ensure no clothing is tucked into the diaper. When using two-piece systems make sure to use a diaper cover that fits properly over the entire diaper. Adding Kushies washable liners or boosters will increase the absorbency as well as pad the diapers for a better fit if baby is small or in-between sizes.

How can I prevent diaper rash?Babies in cloth experience fewer rashes than those in disposables. Rashes can occur for a number of reasons including fever, illness, teething, allergies, detergents, etc. Skin wetness is the number one cause of diaper rash. Changing wet and/or soiled diapers immediately will help reduce the risk of diaper rash. Ensure diapers are thoroughly rinsed to prevent detergent build-up and/or switch detergent brands if needed. Apply diaper creams sparingly only as needed. Always use a diaper liner as creams can affect the absorbency of the diaper and are difficult to clean. Let skin breathe whenever possible. If rash is severe or persistent, check with your physician.

What is your warranty?Kushies diapers are guaranteed against manufacturing defects in workmanship and materials for a full 90-days when purchased from an authorized retailer and all use & care instructions have been followed. Please retain the original sales receipt and UPC/Bar Code as both are required as proof of purchase. For more information please contact a customer service representative at 1-800-841-5330.
